The number of pool cleaning supplies on the market are sometimes mind boggling. It can be hard sometimes, to know just what you need to use. We’d like to offer you a pool cleaning supplies and tools primer! Even if you have a pool maintenance professional it’s always nice to know what needs to be done with your pool in the interim.

The number one line of defense in your pool clean-up is the leaf rake/skimmer and they are used to remove leaves and other debris from the pool. The net is usually stainless steel mesh and are attached to a long telescoping pole.
A wall and floor brush is just what it says – it is a brush used to remove dirt and stains and other materials from the interior surfaces of the pool. The most common wall brush is 18 inches wide and have nylon bristles. Don’t use a wire brush to clean your pool – it will tear a liner or scratch the walls.
Vacuums are used just as they are in the house – to suck dirt off the floor of the pool – and are specifically built to work on swimming pools. There are two types of vacuums – one that sucks dirt and sends it to the filter and the other uses water pressure from a garden hose to force debris into a bag that is then removed.
A tile brush and tile soap are used to clean the tile and the tile brush is attached to your telescoping pole. The tile soap is sold at the pool supply house and helps to clean stubborn stains and oils from the pool. Don’t try to skimp and use a household soap cleaner as they could foam up and cause water balance problems.
A water testing kit should be part of your pool supply cabinet from the day you get your swimming pool installed. You use the test kit to perform testing necessary to ascertain whether your water is in balance.

One of the supplies you should never be without is a pool thermometer so that you can always check the temperature and adjust the heater if you need to.
