Don’t think they were saying it’s an elephant ear. It is in fact a Philodendron selloum or P. selloum which is very similar to the commonly known philodendron tree or in binomial terms, P. bipinnatifidum. They are 2 of the few philodendron species that grow more or less as a shrub or tree instead of a vine which is what a M. deliciosa does.
thats not the elephant ear – thats a monsterio deliscia. the elephant ear has full leaves, looks totally different and is a type of alocascia. google it.
