This is from the short “Design for Dreaming” that was featured on Mystery Science Theater 3000. It’s actually a musical short. The whole thing is a song. It has the kitchen of tomorrow but I think it’s mostly about the cars of tomorrow. This youtube video leaves out a lot of stuff. The Mystery Science Theater version is hilarious.

In all these predictions, they never took into account things like the cost of real estate, or material innovations to make things more lightweight or more compact.

I WANT THAT FOR MY FUCKING FRIDGE

  14. YesYouKnowYourStuff says:

In 1956, the few people who had their own refrigerator, had to pull really hard on the door to open it.
    .
The technique of using rubberized nylon and magnets to close and to keep closed the door meant that it was a very tight and hard fit.
    .
In fact foot pedal devices were featured on some refrigerators to allow for opening -hands free.
    .

    Have a nice day!

    P.S.
Don’t argue with me -I was there !
