My grandfather always said the best cure for a sick chicken is the axe. Unfortunatly saving sick plants is usually not possible. Often overwatering has destroyed the roots and this causes wilting and botrytis to follow. There is evirtually no difference between regular cool white and growth lamps. Remember DRY between waterings.
My young violet’s leave are beginning to wilt and turn black, the older leaves are turning grey, who can I save it from dying. I give the plant 14 hours of light, switching from a florescent light and a plant grow lamp. What could I be doing wrong?

@morgannicgregor Never bottom water violets. It causes fertilyzer build up in the pots as water evaporates and leaves the fertilyzer behind. Water from the top with sufficient amount to wash the pots clean of old fertilyzer. Do not let them stand in water.
My African Violets had been doing good for a year and then the leaves started to turn brown and just fall off and no leaves have started to grow from the now bare core. What can i do? That get perfect lighting, I water only from the bottom and let it dry out a bit before watering again.
@looseassociation Grow to a single crown. Keep pot bound. Dry between waterings. Reduce fertilyzer. Long day length 14 hrs under lights
My violet is produces alot of leaves, it will not flower, what can i do to get it to flower?

I have 3 leaf cuttings that were treated with a root hormone and placed in water under a florescent light.the cuttings havent really developed a root system, however small leaves are growing from the root base, they look very delicate. is placing them in a growth medium the next step? how much light should I give them? dirt No! Soilless mix 1part peat, 1part vermiculite, 1 part pearlite and fertilyze with 20-20-20 1/4 teas per gal. as in video.
I have a leaf cutting that after being placed in water, has roots about 1/8″ long, is it ready to be placed in dirt, and should it be fertilized then?

That’s too low in potassium and phosphate. I commercially raised over 200,000 violets a year for over twenty years and used Peters 20-20-20 exclusively. There probably is not much difference between this and Miracle Grow 20-20-20.
Someone gave me some miracle grow multi purpose for indoor and outdoor plants 24-8-16, is this enough for african violets, it says on the box that its good for them, what are your thoughts on this?Thank you.
